Lactated ringer’s solution in 5% dextrose: i.v infusion.
Ind: Hypovolaemic shock, during & after surgery, bums, nutritional deficiency.
Caution: i.v. infusion is obsolete in metabolic acidosis, and carries the risk of producing lactic acidosis, particularly in seriously ill patients with poor tissue perfusion on impaired hepatic function. Dosage & admin: As required and advised by the physician.
